USAG Japan firefighters, MEDDAC-J Soldiers support Zama City disaster drill
During the drill, in which USAG Japan firefighters assisted in rescue efforts to reach several students trapped on the school’s roof, MEDDAC-J Soldiers were responsible for applying realistic makeup and prosthetics to role-players pretending to be injured in the scenario.
“Persistent bad weather wiped out the planned rehearsal, turning the drill into a ‘cold start,’“ USAG Japan Fire Crew Chief Hiroki Mikami, who led the crew at the scene, said. “However, thanks to consistent training, the team members adapted quickly and executed the exercise without a hitch.
“By enhancing personal relationships through regular exercises like this, both Camp Zama and Zama City ensure a seamless joint response whenever a real emergency request comes in,” he concluded.
